
Turns out we are not the first to think of this great space-saving idea. Here is a picture from Wilson's Glass website at right. This was done on a tub, but you get the idea.
Of course, we have some variations in mind... it would never be so simple as to go with someone else's possibly proven design. See, when the door is folded up, it takes up a fair chunk of space and could get in the way of the toilet. That is bad. So we are planning to figure out a way to partially recess it into the wall. Plus, we do not want to have a track overhead. The thinking being that it will eat into the space and break it up visually. So we will have it glide on the floor. They make tracks for the floor from stainless steel, half-round rods. Pretty cool. But, again, not good enough for us. We want to manufacture one out of the hard wood for the shower floor, such that it looks integrated and not like a track at all!
