Sills and Base Boards

More detail work. Nothing to make a room feel like a room than a few desperately needed details!

After two glorious weekends snowboarding in Tahoe, we finally spent another weekend at home and put in the window sill for the bedroom window! And the trim around the window.

Then we got to work like a factory: making our own base board molding. We sent for samples of bamboo floor molding and found that it was exactly like the floor joists, only a little less wide and rounded on one edge. Woo - surely that's worth 4x the money! NOT! Thus, we got to work setting up the table saw to saw off the tongue of the tongue and groove on the floor joists. Then we got out the router to round off the edge. Luckily our neighbors were probably in Tahoe because we got away with the factory work in the backyard while they were gone.

A quick sanding and a fast coat of polyurethane coating and the molding was ready to put up.

It looks like a finished room now! Of course, we still need to pick some curtains... anybody got curtain advice? We are seeking window treatment advice for detail-oriented people who insist on a modern decor but one of us does not like curtains and the other hates blinds.
