More Dirt, Plus Plants!

Dirt is not a term in modern gardening, or perhaps in any gardening. The correct term is soil. Or maybe compost, or possibly top soil, or maybe mulch. You get the idea. Whatever you want to call it, last weekend we hauled a lot of it around to top off the garden beds. Then we got to go shopping - for plants! Very exciting.

We put in 5 different perennials (i'm learning lots of new terms) and some herbs and vegetables: lettuces, chard, parsley, thyme, leeks, chives, and peppers. We think these are mostly winter vegetables. Thus, no tomatoes, yet. We also put in the basil I had in a pot, but it was mostly dying and looks terrible.
For the back terrace, we thought we would try some pretty and fragrant plants: purple sage, fuscia, and some other kind of sage... pinky and white. Oh, and some ground cover... no photos of those - will have to make amends on that.
