Okay, after much study and re-working the design configuration, using tape and laser measurements, we think we have a working solution which does not involve replacing the large beam, or rather 2 beams with a single beam. Everyone holding your breath can now exhale slowly.
So, that means we can start in on strengthening the floor joists under the new bath area so the tile will be held securely. We want to put in a supporting beam for the joists and also some blocking in between them.
Time to get some lumber.
