The bathroom drawing has some ambiguous aspects to it. One of these is the peekaboo window. It is shown on the plan as a thin blue line between the shower and the bedroom. The "peekaboo window" or "how we are ripping off ideas from Kyoto again" is a panel of glass much like a window, no bigger than 12" wide, connecting the "wet area" (aka, shower) to the bedroom.
Pictured here on the right side in our hotel room at the Hyatt-Kyoto: a pane of frosted glass shows light from the shower area visible from the bed.
We are not sure if we'll use frosted glass or clear glass. Our peekaboo window will also let light in from the outside window, so we may not want to darken it too much. Jury is still out.
The other blue lines on the drawing also represent glass. There will be clear glass between the shower and the sink vanity area. This will include some type of glass door. It is likely to be a simple hinged door opening out of the shower, but we are also exploring the possibility of a saloon style double-hung glass door. Not sure if it will be as waterproof. We do not have space for a sliding option.
The blue line between the tub and the water closet represents another panel of glass - this time frosted for sure for privacy in the w/c. We hope, again, to get some natural lighting from the window through to the w/c via this frosted pane. Also, we think we may be able to get nice diffuse lighting from the w/c to the bathtub for relaxing soaks.
