Or in this case a fair bit of very strong help. Our friend Ryan is now our go-to guy when it comes to moving large pieces of glass around. You'll recall him from the enormous window-install several months ago. My how time flies.
Anyway, the latest task would not have been possible without him. I still cannot believe how heavy that piece of glass was, or how little space we had in which to maneuver it into place. My only hope for the task was that it was all or nothing - either we get it in without a hitch or catastrophic failure and complete loss of the piece. I didn't want to have to decide if it got chipped or scratched whether or not we continued putting it in. Luckily, I didn't have to. It went in beautifully, if not easily. You can see from the photo the awkward shape of the piece as well as the fact that it goes basically floor to ceiling.
Yay! Installed glass! We only have 2 more pieces: the door and the other side of the wall - both much smaller and lighter, so we think we can do them without a 3rd strong man. But just in case, I might have to put Ryan on speed dial.
